My name is Rick Freeman and I am a car enthusiast. Born and raised
in Savannah, my first contact with cars was when I was 4 or 5
years old, when my Father and Uncle built an a-frame on the side
of our home and proceeded to change the engine in a 1953 Ford.
From that point I started building model cars, then building
bicycles. All along, people in my neighborhood would work on their
cars and I would watch and learn. Soon Iwas
helping my family and friends work on their cars. From there I
continued to collect model cars and Hot Wheels cars. From
thatpoint on I would would go to the Savannah
Speedway on Friday nights to see the races with my Father. We
would stay till after the races were over so that I could go over
across the track and look over the race cars. From that point I
was hooked.
From my first car to my current vehicles, I have owned 50 +
cars and some I owned twice. I have worked in the automotive field
for a combined time of 40 + years. A lot of the cars I have owned
didn't run when purchased. I love junk !!! I have owned
Camaros, Chevelles, Impalas, and an assortment of other vehicles.
I have a special love for station wagons and have owned several of
them. I continue to follow automotive trends andI
especially like "patina" cars and trucks.
My current cars are a 1955 Chevrolet 210 four door sedan, 1983
Malibu
station
wagon, and a lowered 2012 Silverado.
Being a member of the Dixieland Cruisers is fun and we are all
like minded folks. Getting together to cruise and attend car
events is what we do.
I am blessed to have a wife that understands my obsession
and a son that
also likes
cars and I get to work with him daily.
My goal as President of DLC is to work with our club and host a
car show
